History for '69 delay

Still Under Construction

Information & pics coming soon

A brief History:

I have been getting many (over 100) emails asking what the delay on the '69 is. As anyone knows who restores cars, you can only move as fast as the people you have to depend on and the truth here is the car spent the better part of 22 months to have the front and rear clips installed at my local collision repair shop. Both were done poorly and a qualified Corvette shop had to undo and redo the work.

The Corvette Specialty shop completed the car correctly according to factory specs in a matter of weeks and I am just a few weeks away from finishing the assembly and getting it on the road!

As always with this site I have documented my experiences to help others undertaking this type of restoration.

My advice here is simple: Don't trust your dream with even a "pretty good" collision repair shop. They don't have the resources, experience, or knowledge to complete the work correctly. Your deadline will be at the mercy of their bread and butter: the insurance wrecks.

Go to a shop with the experience in your particular make. Truth is, it will be quicker and the work will be done correctly without the shop having to rely on "Creative License".

I could have saved almost two years time and in this particular case, the corvette specialty shop was less expensive.

To be consistent with my other pages, I will support this experience with pictures from both the initial collision shop and the specialty shop to illustrate the difference in care.
